Band Committees

Below is a list of all of the committees the band boosters utilize to make our band function at it's best.

Which one is your best fit?

Also, all of these committees need a chair! If you are interested in chairing one of these committees, please reach out to us.

Meal Committee

The Meal Chairperson coordinates with the band director for any meal requirements for performances, band camps or rehearsals. They plan meals and have a committee to assist with purchase, preparation of food and serving. They maintain a checklist of all students who eat the meals and did not pay in advance for them that is forwarded to the treasurer for billing to student statements.

Concessions Committee

As you can imagine, there is a LOT that goes into planning and running concessions for football and basketball season. The band is lucky to have this job. To keep things running smoothly, we need a team of parent volunteers. Joining the concessions committee does NOT mean you have to be at every single football or basketball game.

Fundraising Committee

The fundraising committee assists the Fundraising Chair with the student fundraising campaigns including planning of fundraisers, processing orders, distributing order forms and products. The committee will also help plan fundraising events to raise funds for the Band Booster Club.

Uniform/Laundry Committee

Our band receives new uniforms each season. That means taking measurements, making adjustments, and keeping up with band shoes. Uniforms are maintained by bibber number. The uniform chairperson is responsible for ensuring proper fit, assignment of uniforms and proper cleaning and maintenance of uniforms and shoes. The committee assists with handing out uniforms before games and competitions. They are to be put back in order upon return from cleaning. Prior to each performance the uniform chair is responsible for making sure all uniforms and shoes are where they should be and placed in order in the appropriate uniform box. A full extra uniform should be available for each performance in case of emergency. The uniform chair maintains extras and temporary mending materials for emergencies during performances.

The uniform committee will also have parents who will volunteer to take home uniforms after games/competitions to wash. Washing instructions are always provided and washing is divvied out so most households are only doing 1 load.

1 load of laundry = 1 hour of volunteer time.

Chaperone Committee

Just like any other school outing, the band requires parent chaperones at all events including football games, competitions, and other places the band may travel to as a group. Chaperones must be Raptor approved through the school district. You can information on how to gain approval on the band website.

The Chaperone Committee Chairperson is responsible for enlisting chaperones for all Band of Gold events. The chaperones are responsible for staying with the group throughout each event, such as football games and competitions. They make sure the students have small waters in coolers at football games and competitions, as required, as well as taking a cooler of water to to the visiting band at the beginning of the third quarter at home football games. An Emergency backpack with Student Medical forms and medical items are carried with each group (guard, winds, and percussion) at all times.

On overnight events, the chaperones are assigned rooms for which they are responsible. They are responsible for room checks, proper behavior of the participants and adherence to the established schedule. They travel with the kids and ensure we have left no one behind.

Prop Construction

The band uses new props each season. If you're creative, good at construction, and have some tools, this is the committee for you. The instructors have the vision, and you help make it a reality. Maintaining props throughout the marching season will also be needed.

Tote-n-Tow

The Tote-n-tow Committee is responsible for loading and transporting all of the equipment, instruments, uniforms, etc. to each performance. At each game and competition, the band needs extra hands to help to push instruments, speakers, and props onto the field. We also rely on parent volunteers to tow our trailer to games/competitions. The committee is responsible for the rental of trucks and equipment if necessary and for the maintenance and repair of equipment and transportation owned by the band. They are responsible for the maintenance of the gators and other performance equipment owned by the Band of Gold.

Event Planning/Hospitality Committee

Event Planning: If you love throwing a party, this is the committee for you. We do not throw events often, but when we do, it's for something big and fun. Our main events for our hospitality team are the end of the season party after marching season (early November), hospitality room at the Golden Bear Bash (January), and the end of the year party (May). Other small events may pop up during the school year. The main goal of the hospitality team is to plan, decorate, and organize and serve food (typically potluck style) for the events.

General Hospitality: The Hospitality Committee is responsible for general cleaning of the football stands after football games. They also organize poinsettia sales and decorate the stage for the Christmas concert.
