Every other year the band takes a trip to Disney World in Orlando, FL to march down Main Street at the Magic Kingdom!
This is not a required trip for band members. It is optional.
Some key details of a Disney trip:
- The students ride a charter bus to Disney.
- Parent chaperones will be needed and can ride the charter bus with the students.
- The bus will typically leave the Friday before spring break so the students are ready for the parks on Saturday.
- Students will room together at one of the All Star resorts.
- Rooms are typically 3-4 students per room, and they will have an opportunity to say who they would prefer to room with.
- Parents will be invited to also purchase rooms at the All Star resort but, unless you are a chaperone, you can stay elsewhere on Disney property but will need to make your reservations.
- The tickets offered are 4-day park hoppers, and the plan for the week will be for the students to visit all four parks while they are at Disney.
- Parents will also be invited to purchase tickets through the band. More details on that will be available closer to time to start planning the trip.
- Food!
- Only 1 meal is planned for the students - at Epcot to watch one of the nighttime shows.
- Parents will have to option to purchase this meal at Epcot.
- Students will need to purchase all other food while in Orlando.
- Typically, they will stop at a fast food restaurant prior to entering the parks so the kids can get an inexpensive breakfast.
- Plan to send Disney gift cards, prepaid debit cards, or stock up their Venmo before they leave for the trip and make sure they know how much they have to spend per day. This may also include souvenir money.
- Marching down Main Street.
- The day the students go to the Magic Kingdom is the day they will march in a parade down Main Street USA.
- It will be just our high school band marching. They usually start near Tiana's Bayou and march to the Castle, then down Main Street towards the front of the park.
- Parents are NOT REQUIRED to attend with their students.
- This is a student trip. If parents are not interested in attending, they do not have to.
- Parents that do attend are also not required to keep up with their students. Students will be told by Mr. Cox and the chaperones when and where to meet when it is time to leave the park.
This is general information about the Disney trip. More specific information will be given at Disney info meetings.
