I hope you were able to travel to Murfreesboro yesterday to see our amazing Band of Gold compete in the Contest of Champions. We competed against 8 other bands in our class and won 1st place! We were 1 of 8 bands that went on to finals, and came in 5th place overall! The show was absolutely outstanding, and these kids have worked hard and deserve all the accolades.
I also want to say a HUGE thank you to all of our parent volunteers yesterday, and all season long. The band would not be able to do all the things it does without YOU.

Trunk or Treat
The band is participating in Trunk or Treat at the high school on Tuesday, October 28th from 5 - 7:30 PM in the rear parking lot. All band parents and students are invited to come hand out candy!
We are asking parents for candy donations! No time to shop? Please consider a monetary donation for the booster board to purchase candy for the band. We expect ~500 children to trick or treat. Candy donations can be left with Mr. Cox or students can drop them off with Mrs. Hall in room B101.
Football
This week's game is against our biggest rival, Green Hill. We expect a HUGE crowd. Concessions will be opening early, and new spots are being added to the Sign Up Genius. If you are available to help, please sign up!
Since the band runs concessions, we are also responsible for cleaning the stands after the game (home and away sides). PLEASE consider staying to help with cleanup. It makes the work go so much faster! See one of the band chaperones for trash bags after the game.
End of Season Party
When marching season ends, the band celebrates big! Come join us at out End of Season party on Saturday, November 1 from 6 - 9 PM in the school cafeteria. EVERYONE, parents and students, are invited to come celebrate the band. Mr. Cox's band, the Moonlighters, will come play for us. It's a good time!
This is a potluck style party. We ask the following groups to bring:
- Percussion - Appetizers and snacky foods
- Winds - Desserts
- Guard - Drinks
We also need volunteers to help set up/take down the party, and food attendants.
Please sign up to bring food and help with the party.
The seniors select the dress code for the night, and they have chosen Halloween costumes as attire for the students (not mandatory).
Volunteer Hours
If you still need to complete 25 volunteer hours for the $250 discount on band fees, this week is the last week to get that time in. Volunteer at Trunk or Treat, chaperone the football game, and/or help set up/take down the End of Season party. Already have your time in? We always still need the help!
Payments
As we are in the last week of marching season, it is imperative that final payments are submitted to the band. The winter season is just around the corner!
Updated band statements are going out this evening. Emails regarding meal payments were sent out last week. Please review, send any questions, and submit outstanding balances this week.
Veterans Day Parade
Tuesday, November 11 is Veterans Day. The students will be walking in the Lebanon parade that morning, and we will need chaperones. A Sign Up Genius has been created for this event which includes times.
Winter Interest Meeting
On Tuesday, November 11 there will be a winter program interest meeting at 6:30 PM in the band room.
