Week of October 18

Congratulations to the Band of Gold on winning 1st place in their class in prelims and Reserve Grand Champions in finals yesterday at the Blue Devil Invitational! If you were there, I hope you stayed warm because it was CHILLY!

You can join the PhotoCircle for the event to find photos of the band and awards ceremonies using the QR code below. They are currently still adding photos.

Thank you to all the parent volunteers that helped yesterday and Friday! We just squeaked by on having enough help for concessions thanks to some parent volunteers from an outside group and teacher volunteers.

The marching season is NOT OVER. The band still needs your support.

Band Dues

All fall marching bands dues should be turned in at this point. If you have not paid in full, please do so ASAP. Payment statements should be going to out for all students next week. If you have questions about your account, please reach out to our accounts receivable treasurer, Tracy, at mjbogartreasurer@gmail.com.

Disney Meeting

We have a very important Disney meeting after band practice on Tuesday. This meeting is for parents AND students so if you have planned to go to Disney or are still interested in going to Disney during fall break, please plan to attend.

Band Meals

We still have a lot of unpaid band meals. I will be sending out emails this week to let parents know how much they owe. We still have at least 4 more meals to go this season, with possibly 1 or 2 more if we have any football playoff games.

Contest of Champions Rehearsal

Students will eat lunch at school on Friday then board charter buses at 11:30AM to travel to TTU for CoC rehearsal. The current plan is for them to arrive back at school at 8:30PM. If that changes, Mr. Cox will let you know.

We do need 5 chaperones for this event. We will also be feeding the band students a meal before they come back that evening.

Contest of Champions

  • If you pre-purchased group tickets and did not pick them up at the booster meeting last week, they are in Mr. Cox's office. If you have not paid for your tickets, be sure to bring a check. Mr. Cox will not give out tickets that have not been paid for (envelopes are marked). You can still purchase tickets at the gate for this event.
  • Contest of Champions 2026 Schedule
  • The MTSU stadium does have a clear bag policy in effect. You can read more about it here. There are no outside food/drinks allowed in the stadium. Umbrellas are also not allowed in.
  • Parking for spectators is in the green circled lot on Greenland Drive.

  •
  • Band Meals - We will be providing 3 band meals to students on this day.

Trunk or Treat

The high school is hosting a Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 29. The band boosters will participate with 2 parking spots.

  • They are expecting 900 trick or treaters for this event!
  • We are asking each band student to donate 2 bags of Halloween candy.

  • Candy can be dropped off in Mr. Cox's office.
  • We need parent and student volunteers to help decorate and give out candy! Sign up here.
    • Students will earn volunteer hours for helping.
    • Bring a camp chair!

Poinsettia Fundraiser

We will be kicking off a poinsettia fundraiser next month. These funds will go towards winter marching events, however, you do not have to be a part of winter marching to participate in the fundraiser.

Winter marching tends to be much smaller groups so raising funds can be difficult. If ALL band students participate, it helps the groups immensely!

Contest of Champions - October 24 at 1:30 PM
